Marketing with social media has become part and parcel of any marketing plans these days. However, not every marketing professional knows the best ways to launch a social media campaign. This is fine: the medium is still very new, so here’s a little primer on what to do when working with your social media. Marketing with social media is not terribly complicated, but it is something that you would have to learn.

First you have to decide what the company you are trying to promote is really is. What are the core values they’re trying to promote? Marketing with social media requires a lot of direction, so you need to know exactly what you are trying to get across. Is your company all about customer service, or is it really about innovation? Remember that you have to make a choice: if you try to be everything to everybody, then you’ll be nothing to nobody.

However, customer service is always paramount. That is one particular strength that social media has over other types of marketing: it allows you to directly talk with your customer base. If a customer has a complaint, work with them to rectify the situation. If they have a question, do your best to answer it. If they have a comment of just how much they like you, respond with a simple thanks. This way other customers can see that you take them seriously and will be more likely to want to do business with you.

This ties into our next topic: keep the conversation focused on the customer. People don’t want to just read about a product; they want to talk themselves. You should ask them questions, run surveys, and organize contests. Basically, everything should be done in order to make your customers feel like they are important to you.

These are pretty simple, but this should give you a basic idea what social media really needs to be in order to be effective. Marketing with social media is not really rocket science, but it’s a bit of a shift when compared to different types of marketing you may be used to. Therefore, you should do what you can in order to learn everything you can about this new and exciting medium.

We aren’t talking about buying ads on Facebook here, even though that’s a great idea too. One of the best parts about social media is that it is a free way to reach a large number of interested, engaged customers and tell them all about the great products and services that you have to offer.

First off, let us discuss why social media is so great for internet advertising. The primary advantage that social media has over other forms of communication-such as, say, television advertisements-is that you can be sure that the people you are talking to are actually interested in your products. They chose to follow you, so you know they want what it is that you are selling.

Secondly, social media offers real time metrics that will tell you how many people you are talking to, where they are located, and what they’re saying about you. When you once had to shell out for an expensive market research agency, you can now figure out everything that you need to know with a few clicks on your keyboard.

Social media is a practical godsend for internet advertising, and its applications are pretty much limitless. So, let’s go through the most popular social media applications and discuss what would be the best ways to use them in order to make sure that you’re doing the best you can to hype your products.

Facebook: Facebook works best as a fan page with information that has some staying power. So, if you have a sale or a contest that’s going to last for a few weeks, you should tell your friends online all about it. If you have information or some pictures, this is a great place for it too. Facebook is also great for creating a community of fans that can talk to each other about your products. This way you can have your fans advertise for you!

Twitter: Whereas Facebook tends to hang out for a bit, Twitter updates come and go pretty quickly. If you have more timely information, or perhaps a one day sale, Twitter is the best place for you.

YouTube: If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a million. If you don’t have a YouTube channel, I would suggest creating one. YouTube is a really good way in order to really make a connection with your customers.

Search engine marketing often gets confused with search engine optimization, but there’s a distinct difference between the two, money. When engaging in search engine optimization there is usually no money being paid whereas search engine marketing requires you to pay in order to gain access to the services you desire. $13.5 billion was spent on search engine marketing in 2008 and the amount is increasing every year. The three largest players in search engine marketing are Google <a href="http://0060ekqlpzfvgv35tj33230m1b.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=AU"title="Domainate Adwords" >AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, and Microsoft adCenter.

Google AdWords is Google’s main source of income, in 2010 Google brought in $28 billion in advertising revenue. Google AdWords offers three essential ways for companies to advertising, pay-per-click, cost-per-thousand advertising, and site-targeted advertising for banner or rich media ads. When using the pay-per-click system marketers choose how much they are willing to “bid” for a certain keyword, this means they set a maximum for what they are willing to pay-per-click. If there bid is high enough they will show up on Google as a sponsored link and hopefully be seen by the user. Marketers also have access to the “Google Display Network” which are sites that aren’t search engines.

Google will place banner or rich media ads on these sites for you based on keywords you’ve entered and what Google has decided the subject of the website to be. Yahoo! Search Marketing and Microsoft adCenter both work very similarly to Google AdWords, but they don’t offer users the ability to enter a “display network” like Google does.

Search engine marketing has been the subject of some controversy in the past. Users would sometimes not be able to distinguish what were organic search results and what were paid placement search results. Many search engines now make it clear which results are organic and which are sponsored, but users still need to be cautious as changes are always being made.

A major controversy associated with search engine marketing is whether companies should be able to bid on the brand names or product names owned by their competition. Should Playstation be able to bid on the search term Xbox? This is an ongoing debate and even though Google has repeatedly changed its policy companies continue to complain.

Search engine marketing is an industry that is growing larger and becoming more useful as the years pass. Google, Yahoo!, and Microsoft provide the three most useful tools for getting involved in SEM, but as with everything, you should be careful with how you use it and make sure your SEM practices are ethical.

Are you part of a society in a rush? Do you prefer ‘fast food’ over shopping and cooking at home? There is always a difference in value between anything that endures or is long lasting versus something transient. This difference in value may be part of the equation when you consider Article Marketing vs PPC Marketing.

PPC or Pay Per Click is right now and gives immediate results. It also requires a budget. Article marketing takes time to develop and results will certainly not be instant.

Until you know what it costs to purchase certain keywords or specific key phrase you will not know how much money you will have to budget. You will have to wear your analyst hat to carefully evaluate the best words to buy so you get the most from every dollar spent. Remember that results will have to examined thoughtfully to understand the best way to proceed.

Writing articles is free but will require you invest your time. Some people believe that article readers are more likely to become long term customers. They enjoy or benefit from your articles because you are providing them with information they consider essential or beneficial in some way.

When you have a full wallet you can simply step up and buy listings from reputable ppc companies on the net. There may be a general understanding that you exist in this slot because you bought it. Many people believe that article writers win over their readers and provide value. You may benefit from blending these two ingredients.

Even a limited expenditure on ppc can garner valuable information about which words should be important to use in articles. It is better to know your most valuable keywords and phrases before you write dozens of articles.

Do you have more time or money to spend? Most of us know that our money goes farther in a grocery store than in a restaurant. It is not hard to look at a supper bill for the whole family and think about how much meat and vegetables that money would equal in a shopping cart. Again, we are weighing what is gone quickly against what lasts the longest.

The money will go farther at the store and you can prepare several meals designed just for your family’s taste. Article marketing is like that because you craft each one for your reader’s particular appetite. You serve up one relevant article after another ensuring they want a seat at your table on a regular basis.

With PPC you may need to commit to a constant budget of buying a position over and over again. If you are generating good monthly income this can be a worthwhile and effective tool.

When you use both approaches you have the opportunity to realize the benefits offered by each endeavor. Ensure you have thoroughly investigated all the tools, tactics, and tricks of the trade to adequately evaluate both routes.

Increased readership, vital back links, and wide recognition may be the welcome results of your articles. Instant feedback and monetary gain may be the result of judicious ppc strategies.
